Edmonton Oilers fans defenseman Troy Stecher has been out throughout the playoffs, as he's been dealing with a nasty ankle issue that required season-ending surgery.

Defenceman Troy Stecher is no longer an option for #Oilers. He underwent ankle surgery according to his significant other.
Stecher, who joined the Oilers from the now inactive Arizona Coyotes at the trade deadline, had surgery to remove a cyst from his ankle that had gotten infected.
The surgery went well, and even better, he managed to make it back to Edmonton just in time to join the celebrations after the team secured their spot in the Stanley Cup Finals with a win over the Dallas Stars in Game 6.

Despite being sidelined, Stecher got to hit the ice with his teammates as they posed in front of the Clarence Campbell trophy, and if the Oilers go all the way and win the Stanley Cup, he'll be getting a ring.
As a pending unrestricted free agent, Stecher's future with the team beyond this season remains uncertain, but with nearly 500 NHL games under his belt, he's made his mark in the league.
