In a strategic move, the Florida Panthers have placed defenseman Mike Reilly on waivers, initiating a potential shift in their roster composition.

This decision comes as defenseman Josh Mahura nears a return to health. Reilly's limited play this season, appearing in only two of the team's 19 games, made him a logical choice for reassignment to the minors, should he clear waivers.

Simultaneously, NHL veteran Patrick Kane has expressed interest in joining a new team, with the Florida Panthers emerging as a primary candidate for his acquisition.

Recently celebrating his 35th birthday, Patrick Kane underwent a hip resurfacing procedure on July 1. Although he has been actively skating and training in the Toronto region, it might take him a while to get back to peak playing condition.

Should the Panthers secure Kane, his diverse skill set and rich experience could greatly bolster their team composition. He could either join the third line's right wing or play a crucial role in Florida's primary power play lineup.
