Pierre-Luc Dubois was a huge pickup for the Los Angeles Kings this past summer when he forced his way out of Winnipeg, and early in the season, the team were absolutely rolling. Unfortunately, things changed however, and on the back of a career high 63 points with the Jets, PLD struggled for most of the season, netting just 40 points on the year.
Now, with questions surrounding his attitude and his effort, there's been calls for the team to buy him out, as it would be much cheaper than keeping him on the roster, with GM Rob Blake addressing that situation recently.
With questions over their ageing veterans and the two goaltenders that struggled in the playoffs, the Kings have some moves to make this summer, but Blake appears to be doubling down on PLD after giving up such a haul for him last year.
It's unclear what their plan is moving forward, as they've fallen down the hierarchy in the loaded Western Conference, and if they want to contend for the Stanley Cup once again, they need a bounce back from Dubois or to move on from him. That appears to be their plan for now, but there's always a chance that their thinking changes drastically in the coming months.
