On Thursday, Montreal's Brendan Gallagher was ejected for a ridiculously dangerous hit on New York's Adam Pelech, and now, he has officially learned his fate.

Five game suspension for Gallagher

Almost everyone that saw the hit agreed that it would result in a suspension for the 31-year old, and on Friday, the NHL confirmed that it would be a five game suspension.
Montreal's Brendan Gallagher has been suspended for five games for an illegal check to the head on NY Islanders' Adam Pelech.
The hit saw Gallagher clearly and intentionally hit Pelech in the head with his elbow, and while no one could argue it was suspension worthy, perhaps it may have warranted even more time.
In 48 games for the Canadiens this year, Gallagher has just 16 points, and now, he'll miss five games as the Canadiens look for an unlikely run at the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
