Angela Price is under fire for controversial comments on Paris Olympics

The 2024 Paris Olympics has become one of the most discussed sporting events this year, as fans are amazed by the talent in each game, as well as the notable controversies that plague its approval ratings. After the colorful and polarizing opening ceremony, among the most controversial events occurred in women's boxing. This was of course the fight between Italy's Angela Carini and Algeria's Imane Khelif, who was born female but with XY chromosomes. The match ended less than a minute into the first round when Carini forfeited, giving rise to rumors that Khelif did not meet gender requirements for the event.

Despite having passed IOC eligibility requirements, many Olympics fans and celebrities participated in spreading rumors that have been torn to shreds across social media. Among those under fire for comments on the match is Angela Price, wife of former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price. In a Q&A she held on her Instagram stories, she made remarks on the Carini/Khelif match. She too contributed to the conspiracy theories that Imane Khalif is a man, also adding a photoshopped image of Mike Tyson in women's boxing attire.

Though it is easy to get swept up in the latest internet controversy, there are also limits to what you should claim, especially before knowing all the information. Hopefully, Angela Price can take this as a learning lesson to not believe everything you hear, or at list take a moment longer to listen.
