After extending Arber Xehkaj yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens have now followed it up once more by officially extending Kaiden Guhle, making him a key piece of their blue line for the next six years.
The deal carries an annual value of $5.5 million for the 22-year old, who was a first-round pick of the Canadiens back in the 2020 NHL Draft, who has become a solid contributor since making his NHL debut. In two years at the NHL level, Guhle has played in 114 games, netting 10 goals and 40 points over that time, and with the Montreal blue line coming together, he's a critical part of that future.
It's unclear yet whether this team can push them towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2024/25, but the talent is certainly there, and if the young core can develop well, this is a team that has plenty of promise for the years to come.
