The NHL is on the verge of seeing plenty of big name veterans walk away from the game after long stints on the ice, and after a recent comment from the Islanders GM, we may now know the fate of a former Minnesota Wild star.

An consistent career

After 1,224 games split between the Devils, Wild and most recently the Islanders, Zach Parise is now on the verge of retirement, if comments from the Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello are anything to go by.
Lou Lamoriello says Zach Parise will not come to camp with the #Isles. Did not rule out something later in the season but says Parise is home in Minnesota.
According to Lamoriello, Parise is back home in Minnesota right now, and New York won't be picking him up before the start of training camp, suggesting that there's likely little interest in him around the league.

A respected veteran

Those 1,224 games put Parise in the top 125 in the NHL all-time for games played, and at 39-years of age, he's been considering retirement all summer long, so this is now our best indication of his future yet.
If he did want to go again however, Parise did put up 21 goals and 34 points a season ago in New York, so don't quite expect him to be done yet, because the team could very well call on him throughout the year. For now however, things are pointing towards the end of a very solid career.
