Frustration is setting in in Ottawa, and not just with how the Senators are playing.

Boobirds

The boobirds were out in full force last night as Ottawa lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-4 to drop to 4-6-0 on the season. There was also a "fire D.J." chant, referring to coach D.J. Smith. While he understands fans aren't happy, Sens captain Brady Tkachuk says they shouldn't be turning on the players an coach
"Whenever you don't win it's frustrating. It's frustrating the negativity from the outside. The constant booing and the bu---hit kind of from the crowd tonight was frustrating, too."

"I understand they're a passionate fan base, I understand, I love it, but when you face adversity you don't turn your back on the guys out there. I mean, we're playing hard. I know it's frustrating right now, but it's not like we're giving up out there. We're fighting to the very end. So, to be honest with you, yeah, it was frustrating tonight."

Something has to Give

While it's nice of Tkachuk to try and shift the blame from the coach, it's only a matter of time before something happens if the Senators continue playing this way. And, as most fans know, the coach is usually the first to go, regardless of whether it's his fault or not. Smith is currently on very thin ice.
