The Philadelphia Flyers took their level of respect to another level by inviting Johnny Gaudreau's father Guy, on the ice to practice with the team.

Last month, the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau sent shockwaves through the hockey world, leaving fans and players alike very shaken. Both brothers were fairly well-recognized through the hockey community, and when the news of their passing came, love and support overwhelmed from all over the world. This was a collective grief and solidarity that many had never experienced.
The Gaudreau family was, rightfully, devastated, as anyone would be in such a devastating time. But it did little to stem the tide of the hockey world's support continuing to reach out. Nothing replaces Johnny and Matthew, but continued attempts at uplifting their family are heartening.
One example that was especially well executed happened recently when the morning skate of the Philadelphia Flyers took place, to which they invited Guy Gaudreau, the father of Johnny and Matthew, onto the ice to join them. Guy was instrumental in nurturing his sons' love for hockey, regularly taking his sons out to skate and play at the local rink. His presence on the ice was a fitting tribute to his sons' legacy.
The classy invite by the Philadelphia Flyers just shows that the organization really does care, in a respectful manner. Pictures of the day show him standing with Flyers players and even skating with skills coach Angelo Ricci offer a real poignant moment of connection.
While small in their nature, it was most certainly meaningful to the Gaudreau family. In times of deep loss, acts like these can be a source of moments of solace. Kudos to the Flyers for some thoughtful support.
