During a stoppage in play, Sidney Crosby and Claude Giroux got reacquainted with one another in an exchange that mimicked Giroux's days in Philadelphia. In the exchange, Crosby can be seen chipping at Giroux the entire way up the ice, and then takes his frustrations out physically after the ensuing faceoff, cross-checking Giroux to the ground.
Crosby made more of a mark on this game than just this penalty, as he recorded a goal and an assist. He now has 9 points in 8 games, 5 of those being goals. It looks like there is no slowing down for the 36-year-old as he enters his 19th season in the NHL.
Despite his efforts, though, the Senators came out on top in this game with a 5-2 victory. We will see if the Crosby-Giroux rivalry continues when the two teams play again on December 23rd.
