At 52 years old, former Pittsburgh Penguins legend and two-time Stanley Cup winner Jaromir Jagr has won yet another surprising award.

The NHL has never been short of hockey greats, from players like Wayne Gretzky, to Mario Lemieux, to Guy Lafleur. This list, however, would not be complete with former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jaromir Jagr. Outside of his two Stanley Cup wins with the team in 1991 and 1992, he has become one of the most decorated players to ever grace the league. To his name, he has five Art Ross Trophy wins, three Ted Lindsay awards, a Hart Memorial Trophy, and a Bill Masterson Memorial trophy. With a career like this, there is no wonder he was recently celebrated with an official jersey retirement for his first NHL team.
However, at 52 years old, Jaromir Jagr has not stopped building on his legacy as a hockey great, earning another award for his trophy case. Yet, despite the obvious inclination and dominance in the sport, his latest recognition comes from outside the league. The former NHLer was part of his own documentary entitled 'Celebrate 88: Jagr Retirement Ceremony.' During the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Reginal Emmy Awards in Pittsburgh, the program won in three categories. As a producer and writer for their entry, Jaromir Jagr is officially an Emmy winner.
"The Pittsburgh Penguins video staff won Emmy Awards in three categories at the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 21.

The PensTV staff were awarded Emmys in the following categories - 'Sports Program - Live', 'Sports Program - Post-Produced or Edited' and 'Editor'. The 'Editor' category, awarded to Sydney Bauer of PensTV, is intended for documentaries, programs and other long and short content not considered 'News' or 'Spot Announcements.'"
Jaromir Jagr is in his his last season of professional hockey with Kladno of the Czech league, and will no doubt impress viewers with his continued playing ability despite his age. Yet, with a new award under his belt for entertainment, we may come to expect some more surprises to come in his future.
