Did Kyle Dubas Rethink the Pens GM Position?

The rumors that swirled around Kyle Dubas possibly signing a contract with the Penguins have seen an unexpected twist.
Despite the initial reports suggesting an agreement was in progress, it seems Dubas may be reconsidering his decision.

An Unanticipated Reversal by Kyle Dubas

Among the breaking news yesterday, the one that arguably garnered the most attention was the speculation of Kyle Dubas moving to Pittsburgh to assume a new GM role.
Contrary to these reports, it now appears that Dubas might not be stepping into the position in Pittsburgh after all.

Insider's Take on Dubas's Decision

Frank Seravalli, an NHL insider, joined the Fan Drive Home to shed some light on Dubas's situation. He revealed:
"I came across a report from Mark Madden from 105.9 the X in Pittsburgh - a key figure in the Pittsburgh scene - asserting that Kyle Dubas is finalizing a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is in stark contrast to most of what I've been hearing. I have some indications - not strong enough to confidently report - suggesting that Kyle Dubas has actually turned down the Pittsburgh Penguins...There's a growing sense that the Penguins and Fenway Sports Group have resumed conversations with other candidates they had previously interviewed. This fuels speculation that Kyle Dubas might have rejected their offer. However, none of this is solid enough for me to officially report." - Frank Seravalli

Implications of the Reversal on Penguins' Offseason

Seravalli's statement contradicts the widely reported news of Dubas heading to Pittsburgh.
If accurate, this will throw a wrench into the Penguins' offseason plans, forcing them to replace Dubas, arguably the best available GM, with another candidate.

Further Challenges for the Penguins

To add to the predicament, Brad Treliving, considered the second-best option on the market, committed to Toronto yesterday.
This suggests that the Penguins may have to settle for a less preferred candidate.
