BREAKING: Krug Confirms He Denied Massive Trade
The St. Louis Blues and the Philadelphia had a reported blockbuster trade that got shut down by a player and we now know who shut it down.
Krug Speaks About Denying Trade Over the Summer
Torey Krug spoke to the media today, confirming that he was the one who denied the massive trade.
"Obviously I chose to stay here (St. Louis). I want to be part of this room and love playing in this city and wearing the Blue Note so it's something I'm very excited about. You don't like hearing things like that. I have kids, I have a family. But I want to be here and wear the Note. I'm here to play hockey. I signed up to be in St. Louis for 7 years and that's what I want to do. When you hear stuff like that, there's more that goes into it than what's on the surfaceat the end of the day, I want to be here."
When Krug signed his 7 year deal he also got 5 years with a full no-trade clause and the final two seasons have a modified no-trade clause.
Krug also says he is still committed to working hard with the Blues.
«I've seen everything in hockey, just about everything you can think of. If you know anything about me, or my history, you know I'm going to show up and go to work every day. I think my teammates understand that and expect that.»
The Denied Krug Trade
The massive trade that would have seen Krug a member of the Flyers organization would have shocked the NHL world.

The Blues later acquired Kevin Hayes for a 2024 6th-round pick but were unable to make Travis Sanheim a member of the Blues organization.
Krug has four years remaining on his contract with an average salary of $6.25 million. If the Blues want to trade him they will have to wait two more seasons.
