A former Edmonton Oiler has had his contract terminated by his new team due to the player not playing for the time being.

Archibald's Contract Terminated

It was just announced by the Tampa Bay Lightning that they have terminated the contract of Josh Archibald.
We have placed forward Josh Archibald on waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.

«We wish Josh, his wife Bailey, and their entire family the very best in their future endeavors.» - Julien BriseBois

Lightning GM Julien BriseBois said the following in a statement regarding the issue:
"Yesterday, I was informed by Josh's agent, and by Josh himself in a subsequent conversation, that he was not planning on playing hockey for the time being and that he would not be reporting to training camp. Consequently, Josh was placed on unconditional waivers earlier today for the purpose of terminating his contract." - Julien BriseBois

Archibald has won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played with the Oilers from 2019-2021 before he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning this offseason but for some reason will not be playing hockey anytime soon.
