Lightning Star Criticizes Maple Leafs in Recent Interview
The Tampa Bay Lightning have put together an impressive run in recent years, making three Stanley Cup Finals while winning two, and throughout that time, they've been dominant over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
A one-sided rivalry
Over that time, the Lightning have had their way with Toronto, but last year, the Leafs got their revenge, escaping the first-round for the first time in 19 years.
They would fail to go any further after losing to the Florida Panthers in round two however, and that was a fact that didn't escape one key member of the Lightning squad.
Big time criticism
Unsurprisingly, the Leafs have once again come under scrutiny, as Mikhail Sergachev, a defenceman of the Lightning has dissed the team in a recent interview.
Sergachev: "I don't want to put any pluses on Toronto now, they didn't deserve them."
Interviewer: "Why don't you want to put Toronto pluses?"
Sergachev: :Well, why? I don't think they deserve much."
Interviewer: "For the first time in 19 years, the first round was passed!"
Sergachev: "Well done here, they went through the first round, but did not go further. So I don't see any reason to rejoice here.

With the current format, there's a good chance these two meet in the playoffs again, and if that's the case, expect this rivalry to once again get physical between two of the best teams in the NHL, but at this point, it's hard to argue with Sergachev's points.
