It is no secret that the Toronto Maple Leafs have been somewhat disappointing this season. Now one of their biggest offseason acquisitions could be on the move as the team looks to upgrade at center.

Domi Set To Be Traded By Leafs As They Look For New Centers

Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox, who primarily covers the Leafs, suggested today that the team could be looking to move Domi in a deal that would bring a new defenseman back to Toronto. The Leafs signed Domi to a one-year, 3 million dollar contract this offseason.
"To be sure, the Maple Leafs' top trade priority is defence help, particularly on the right side. Reading between the lines of comments made by coach Sheldon Keefe and GM Brad Treliving this week, Toronto would also like to upgrade its centre depth. Max Domi has filled in admirably as a third-line pivot, but his trust defensively is iffy. Sense is, the Leafs would prefer a pure pivot and keep Domi as a middle-six utility player. Three rental names to keep in mind: Anaheim's Adam Henrique, Montreal's Sean Monahan and Seattle's Alexander Wennberg.

Domi Gets First Goal As A Leaf

Domi has a single goal and 13 points in 24 games with the Leafs this season. His defensive play has reportedly been quite suspect though and the team is in need of more goal scorers while Domi is clearly more of a setup man.
With the goal, Domi is now shooting just 3% on the season. His career average is around 10% so there certainly could be more goals to come but so far it has not been enough for the Leafs. The team could certainly use help on defense as well so it should be interesting to see if Domi ends up being part of a deal that brings a blueliner back to Toronto.
