NHLPA Investigates Dubas For Potential Conflict Of Interest

Frank Seravalli announced today that the NHLPA will be investigating Kyle Dubas for a potential conflict of interest violation.
Dubas is represented by Chris Armstrong of Wasserman Sports while Auston Matthews is represented by Judd Moldaver also of Wasserman Sports. The two agents work in different branches but this has not stopped other agencies from accusing the former Leafs GM of having a conflict of interest.
«This is clearly prohibited under the regulations,» one long-time agent said on Thursday, requesting anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on behalf of his firm. «It is an unwritten, understood, and longstanding practice that your guy down the hall doesn't work for the other side. I'd like the NHLPA to launch an investigation and draw their conclusion.»

While this agent is anonymous, he likely comes from either Newport Sports Management or CAA Sports, the two largest agencies.
The investigation will be followed closely for the next couple of days or weeks. If there is a violation, Dubas will likely be blacklisted from the industry taking him off of the table for teams interested in his services like Pittsburgh.
