Last night, history repeated itself once again, as the Maple Leafs lost in game seven of their playoff series against the Bruins. Toronto, however, still got the attention of the team that would have played after Tkachuk threw shade at the team and their likelihood of victory against the Boston team.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been on quite the dry spell, having last earned the Stanley Cup in 1967. Instead of breaking their curse, they lost to Boston in overtime after Pastrnak took the shot that would become the series-winning game.
"THE BRUINS WIN 2-1 OVER THE MAPLE LEAFS IN GAME 7 OVERTIME TO WIN THE SERIES. HAMPUS LINDHOLM WAS GREAT, TYING THE GAME IN THE THIRD. THEN, DAVID PASTRNAK CAME UP CLUTCH WHEN IT MATTERED MOST, SCORING THE SERIES WINNER. JEREMY SWAYMAN IS ELITE, MAKING 30 SAVES. YOU LOVE TO SEE IT"
On top of the unbroken curse, this loss for the Maple Leafs is the third consecutive game-seven loss to the Bruins. Additionally, this marks 65 years since Toronot's last series victory over Boston. further back than their most recent Cup win.
"It's 2013, and I'm watching the Bruins beat the Leafs in 7 games

It's 2019, and I'm watching the Bruins beat the Leafs in 7 games

It's 2024, and I'm watching the Bruins beat the Leafs in 7 games"
"#LeafsForever I had to look it up. This is why the @MapleLeafs
fear the @NHLBruins = For over 5 decades of Bruins dominance over Maple Leafs

The last time Toronto beat Boston in the post-season was in 1959, even long than the last time the Leafs won the Cup."
However, the Toronto Maple Leafs could not catch a break after the end of their season. Matthew Tkachuk, forward for the Florida Panthers, revealed his true thoughts about the series in an interview about their upcoming matchup against Boston.
"Without this coming out too badly, I think we all knew it was probably going to Boston the way that series was going...I think throughout the whole series we were probably expecting they were going to come out and win it one way or another."
With another season down, the Toronto Maple Leafs will have to go back to the drawing board if they want a better chance next year. Boston will now face the Florida Panthers on the road tomorrow in their first game of the second round. With how their first series went, they will definitely need to kick their game into a higher gear.
