Toronto Maple Leafs will be going into the 2024-25 season with veteran forward Max Pacioretty as per report by Nick Alberga.

The Maple Leafs signed Pacioretty to a professional tryout contract last month and he has since exceeded expectations with a strong training camp and pre-season. Pacioretty had three points in his first pre-season game including two goals and followed that up with another two assists last night to give himself five on the year.
Team reporter Nick Alberga reported this afternoon that Pacioretty is expected to sign a one-year deal with the team, likely worth league-minimum. He also revealed that the contract will likely be finalized tomorrow, after the team wraps up their pre-season with a game against the Detroit Red Wings tonight. Max is looking to help bolster the Leafs left side on offense. It has been well documented the the Leafs have had sturggles with depth scoring outside the core 4, so if Max is able to find some of his previous form it will be a welcome sign.
Max Pacioretty has a well-documented history of injuries. He returned to action in January 2023, for the Carolina Hurricanes after rupturing his Achilles while training in August 2022. The team had welcomed him back and he scored three goals in five games, but that brief comeback re-injured the same Achilles.
Last season for the Washington Capitals, he managed to play in 47 games to reach four goals and 19 assists. He added just one assist in four playoff games with Washington, a pace well off what you'd want from a player of that caliber.
Max Pacioretty isn't the only player that Brad Treliving signed to a PTO with the leafs this offseason. They also brought in Steven Lorentz from the Florida Panthers on a similar deal, and according to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, he also appears to have earned a contract after a strong pre-season. The Leafs have seemed to have solidified their weak left-wing and appear to be ready to make a statement this season.
