The Toronto Maple Leafs have avoided a major injury to William Nylander, but there have been calls now to move on from Nick Robertson after his role.

During the Maple Leafs latest pre-season tilt with the Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Maple Leafs almost encountered disaster as Nick Robertson tried a unique move to teammate William Nylander that went as bad as it possible could have.
Obviously, the move was intended to help Nylander, but in a pre-season matchup, it's simply not worth it, as the star forward would leave the ice in what many have called a stupid move from Robertson. That criticism has come from far and wide, including analyst Nick Kypreos, who labelled the move 'bush league' while calling Robertson lazy and stupid.
Unsurprisingly, there have now been calls for Toronto to cut Nick Robertson entirely, and while that won't happen given that he has some trade value and some potential if he finds a way into their lineup, it just goes to show how dumb the move was from the young forward.
Regardless of the move, Robertson still has plenty of potential and will learn from something he never should have done in the first place, so hopefully the team can put their faith in the 22-year old and allow him to learn from the move. He remains a trade candidate however, so don't be shocked if he is ultimately traded, and given the reaction to what happened on the ice, it's probably the best move the team can make.
