Online trade proposals have been emerging linking Florida Panthers superstars Aaron Ekblad and Carter Verhaeghe to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Florida Panthers are fresh off their first ever Stanley Cup win in franchise history, however they have already begun switching up their roster as some players have gone while others have come in. It is seeming ever more likely that the Panthers are still not done re-shaping the look of their team, as a massive blockbuster trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs is starting to take the headlines. Here is a look at the potential trade that has been making waves online.
Maple Leafs get:

Aaron Ekblad
Carter Verhaeghe

Panthers get:

Timothy Liljegren
Nick Robertson
Calle Jarnkrok
Bobby McMann
2027 first-round pick
2025 second-round pick (Florida's)

Nick Robertson has demanded a trade out of Toronto due to a lack of playing time, and he is also looking for a bigger role on a team and wants more responsibility. The issue with this is that the Leafs GM Brad Treliving has given his seal of approval on Robertson, even going as far as saying that he would have a much bigger role and be a key player on the team next season. Based off those comments, it does not appear that Robertson may get his trade wish granted. Robertson only played in 56 games for the Leafs last season, where he scored 14 goals and had 13 assists, so no doubt if he were to remain on the Leafs, both he and Treliving would want those numbers improved.
Leafs GM Brad Treliving on Robertson:

"Obviously, I have known that there was some frustration with Nick, but we look at Nick as an excellent player. There's great opportunity for Nick here. We need him to be a good player for us."
Timothy Liljegren is another Leafs player who has been involved in a ton of trade rumors this off-season. There has been no indication that Treliving wants to trade Liljegren, however he and many fans seem to like having him on the team and would prefer him to remain long-term.
Timothy Liljegren, signed 2x$3M by TOR, is a second-pairing two-way puck-moving defenceman. This season he proved that he could keep up his performance in a bigger role, but admittedly has not yet shown that he can do it in the playoffs as well. #LeafsForever
If for whatever reason this trade, or a very similar trade to this one were to happen, it would send shock waves down the entire league. Trades of this magnitude do not happen very often, however stranger things have happened, so perhaps this is one that gets added to that list.
