Oliver Kylington has been a major defenseman for the Calgary Flames since he first played his first multi-game year in the 2018-2019 season. However, after his dominance on the ice dipped in the 2023-24 season, he was left sitting as a free agent much longer than expected.
However, Kylington's wait on a new contract is now officially over. After just over 200 games with the team, the 27-year-old defenseman has left the Calgary Flames and signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
Given that the player would provide much-needed defensive depth in Colorado, many worried he would break the bank for the Avalanche. However, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman shared that the deal is worth $1.05 million, effectively a steal for what he can provide.
With ample cap space and more defensive depth, the Colorado Avalanche may return to their true Stanley Cup contenders status. Hopefully, his time with a new team will help Oliver Kylington find the top of his game.
