An insider has provided an interesting update regarding Elias Pettersson putting his future in Vancouver into question.
Pettersson's Future Uncertain
Elias Pettersson's future in Vancouver has become more and more uncertain over the past few months. In a recent report by Elliotte Friedman, it was revealed that if Pettersson is not 100% ready to commit to the Canucks then the Canucks are not ready to commit to him.
«If there is any doubt that Pettersson wants to make a commitment, I'm not convinced that they want to make a commitment»

What Pettersson Would Cost On The Trade Market
If Pettersson were to hit the trade block, there should be 31 teams in the NHL calling on him. He is undoubtedly a top 10 centerman in the NHL and is only 24 years old. Some even consider him a top-five center in the league.
With this and the ability to offer him an 8-year extension, any team in the NHL would be giving up an arm and a leg to get him.
For comparison, when Jack Eichel was traded it cost Vegas a solid roster player (Alex Tuch), a top prospect (Peyton Krebs), a future first-rounder, and a future second-rounder.
Eichel would have similar value to Pettersson but would also be worth substantially less considering how Pettersson is younger and already better having scored 102 points last year.
Pettersson would likely cost the following:
A top-six forward, a top-four defenseman, an A-level prospect, a B-level prospect, a first-rounder, and a second-rounder that could upgrade to a first
While this is extremely pricey, it is the fee for a top young centerman in the NHL.
