The Vancouver Canucks' playoff run ended in heartbreak with a 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals at Rogers Arena on Monday.

Despite strong efforts from Arturs Silovs, Conor Garland, and Filip Hronek, the Canucks couldn't pull through.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins led the charge for the Oilers with a goal and an assist. Zach Hyman notched his NHL-leading 11th playoff goal, and Leon Draisaitl extended his point streak to 12 games. Stuart Skinner made 15 saves, while Evan Bouchard chipped in with two assists, leading the Oilers to a date with the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference finals.
Edmonton dominated the first period, outshooting Vancouver 13-2, but Silovs stood tall, making some incredible saves. He went full splits to stop Brett Kulak's rebound, denied Zach Hyman on a breakaway, and blocked Connor Brown's short-handed chance. Draisaitl's secondary assist boosted his playoff total to 24 points in a dozen games.
Fans took to social media to share their mixed emotions after a promising season ended in disappointment, with some even calling for the captaincy to be taken away from likely Norris trophy winner, Quinn Hughes.
Garland and Hronek scored in the third period, and Silovs made 26 saves for Vancouver, but it wasn't enough. Brock Boeser, who had seven goals this postseason, was sidelined blood clotting problems. The Canucks also missed a golden opportunity during a crucial four-minute power play in the first period, failing to register a single shot.
Even with the loss, the Canucks showed promise this season, and fans are already looking ahead with hope for what's to come.
