Last season was a successful one for the Vancouver Canucks, but after making several changes, they still need to fill out their roster as they look to do major damage once again next season. Now, according to Insider Rick Dhaliwal, they have found their next target in 300 game veteran Daniel Sprong, who spent last season with the Detroit Red Wings.
The 27-year old was a second-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings back in the 2015 NHL Draft, and after bouncing around the league he has had two straight productive seasons, tallying 46 points with Seattle and 43 points a year ago in Detroit. While he hasn't lived up to expectations thus far, he's showed genuine potential in recent years, and with the Canucks needing help with the depth of their team, this would be an astute signing.
The team have some solid scoring on the wing, but with Sprong likely to take a cheap, short-term deal as he looks to establish himself in the NHL, it's a move that could greatly benefit both parties.
