Once again, Gary Bettman finds himself in the spotlight for a controversy.
Bettman Faces Criticism for Prohibiting Player from Wearing Cancer Ribbon
Yesterday, during the game between the Golden Knights and the San Jose Sharks, Logan Thompson, the backup goalie for Vegas, wanted to wear a Cancer ribbon on his helmet in honor of Hockey Fights Cancer Month in the NHL.
"Per sources, #VegasBorn goalie Logan Thompson wanted to put a Cancer ribbon on his helmet design but was told he couldn't by the NHL. It is Hockey Fights Cancer Month in the NHL. Thompson is the backup goalie tonight against the #SJSharks."
Gary Bettman Looks Bad (Again)
This is sad. A cause as universal as cancer awareness should be embraced by all, especially during the NHL's dedicated month. Denying a player the right to wear a simple ribbon is regrettable. It hurts the NHL as well as the cause.
Players should have the freedom to support the causes they are passionate about.
Do you believe it's time for Bettman to step down from his position?
