Max Pacioretty's future in the NHL is currently uncertain after a terrible update from Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery.

Pacioretty's Unfortunate Timeline

Max Pacioretty has struggled with his health for the majority of his career but in the past couple of seasons it has gotten worse. Since 2020, Pacioretty has been sidelined for many games and has only gotten in 92 total games.
Last year, he missed 77 total games and the entirety of the playoffs after struggling with his Achilles.
Today, Spencer Carbery provided a terrible update on Pacioretty's future:
"I'm not sure of the exact timeline, I don't think he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. But whether it's in the November timeframe or December, whenever he's healthy and ready to go, I think it gives us a great asset in Max to be able to, partway into the season, potentially give us a real jolt offensively in our top six, someone who can help us on the power play, someone who has proven time and time again that they can find ways to score, which is something that is coveted around the League."

If Pacioretty can return to his former self, he could certainly be a valuable asset in the Capitals top six but as of right now, it looks like he will be missing at least the first month of play and potentially even more.
This recovery is taking longer than his first Achilles recovery which could be either Pacioretty looking to be cautious or it could be because the injury was worse the second time around.
If Pacioretty is not careful and reinjures his Achilles a third time, his NHL career is likely over.
