A former Winnipeg Jet and 800-game NHL veteran has announced his retirement from hockey in a very unique manner.

Thompson Retires

Nate Thompson had a lengthy NHL career that spanned 844 games and saw him playing with 9 different franchises including the Winnipeg Jets.
At 38 years old, Thompson has decided to hang up his skates and retire from playing hockey.
"From the time I was 4 until 38 hockey has been my life and best friend," Thompson said. "I'm beyond grateful and thankful for all the great people I've met and friendships I've made. All good things must come to an end so thank you to all who supported me along this journey."
Thompson announced his retirement via the Spittin Chiclets podcast which could be the first time an NHLer has announced his retirement through a podcast.
He played for the Winnipeg Jets in 2020-21 where he played 44 games scoring two goals and five points.
We wish him the best with his retirement!
