A goaltender who used to start for the Winnipeg Jets is now in danger of losing his NHL career following devastating news.
Hutchinson In Retrospect
During the mid-2010s, the Winnipeg Jets did not have Connor Hellebuyck yet and had a rotation of goaltenders. The one stable player on their backend was Michael Hutchinson who consistently got into 30-40 games as a 1B goaltender.
Throughout five years with the Jets, Hutchinson played in 102 total games with the Jets with the majority coming from 2014-2017.
He was solid not having a single season with under a .900 sv% and having only one with a GAA over 3.00.
Hutchinson In Danger Of Losing NHL Career
In a terrible turn of events, it was announced that Hutchinson was released from his PTO in Detroit.
The #redwings have released goaltender Michael Hutchinson from his PTO.
It was then announced that he was offered a PTO with Grand Rapids of the AHL.
The Red Wings on Friday assigned and released 13 players to the Griffins. In addition, the Griffins signed goaltender Michael Hutchinson to a professional tryout #GoGRG
With Hutchinson not even getting a guaranteed contract from the Griffins, it seems like his NHL career may be over at only 33 years old.
