According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the two sides have held some extension talks, and while they've tabled them now ahead of the season, he has never asked out as those reports have stated.
After being drafted with the 7th overall pick back in the 2011 NHL Draft, Scheifele has been a consistent force and a leader for this team, and while they're yet to experience Stanley Cup glory, he's been a mainstay for the Jets.
In 723 games, Scheifele has netted 272 goals and 645 points, and while the 30-year-old has yet to break out into superstardom, he's been a fantastic player since entering the league, and now, the Jets will look to convince him that they can win so he will sign a big extension.
