Mark Scheifele has spent the entirety of his 12-year career with the Winnipeg Jets, but according to some rumours, that lengthy stint may be coming to an end at some point during the 2023-24 season.

Trade request?

It's been reported several times that Scheifele has asked out of the Jets this year whether by trade or denying an extension, but that may not be the case after all.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the two sides have held some extension talks, and while they've tabled them now ahead of the season, he has never asked out as those reports have stated.
Some things that need to be clarified: Scheifele has never asked for a trade, nor has he said he doesn't want to extend in Winnipeg but they're going to park it for now and just get the season going.

A Jets icon

After being drafted with the 7th overall pick back in the 2011 NHL Draft, Scheifele has been a consistent force and a leader for this team, and while they're yet to experience Stanley Cup glory, he's been a mainstay for the Jets.
In 723 games, Scheifele has netted 272 goals and 645 points, and while the 30-year-old has yet to break out into superstardom, he's been a fantastic player since entering the league, and now, the Jets will look to convince him that they can win so he will sign a big extension.
