The Winnipeg Jets have had a fantastic off-season thus far, capping it off by re-signing two key veterans on the eve of the 2023-24 season, but it's one of their young stars that could help them take the biggest leap.
A breakout season coming?
After getting his first extended taste in the NHL a season ago before Winnipeg traded Pierre-Luc Dubois, Cole Perfetti is now in the prime position to take a step forward according to a recent article published by Yahoo Sports.
In that article, Perfetti is predicted to be one of five players in the NHL to breakout into stardom this season, and for the Jets fans looking for a deep playoff run, they could be right.
A young star
In 51 games a season ago, Perfetti tallied 8 goals and 30 points for the Jets, and with the second line centre position open for the taking, if he can make a leap this year, the Jets could be a genuine threat in the Eastern Conference.
Ultimately, Perfetti won't be relied upon as a key source of offence for this team, but if they can get a breakout year, they'll be a fun team, and alongside the fun pairing of Nik Ehlers and Nino Niederreiter, this will be an electric group if Perfetti can put it all together.
