REPORT: Gary Bettman Screws Over Several Canadian Teams
The national broadcast schedule has been released and the Jets are getting screwed over.
National Broadcast Schedule Released
Today, the US national broadcast schedule was released and some teams were shown clear favoritism over others. Obviously being the US National Broadcast schedule, you would expect to see primarily US-based teams but there are some troubling instances where teams get 0 US Nationally televised games.
Amongst Canadian teams, Edmonton leads the way and the NHL with 18 nationally televised games and it makes sense why. They have
Connor McDavid and the league needs to market their superstar.
Next is Toronto with 11 and again it makes sense because they have
Auston Matthews, a superstar in his own right.
Then there is a steep fall off. Vancouver only has two nationally televised games which is not a lot but it is more than the rest of the Canadian teams.
Finally, the only four franchises that won't get a single nationally televised game are the Flames, Canadiens, Senators, and Jets.
For four teams, all Canadian, not having a single US nationally televised game is terrible considering how some of the best games are rivalry games. Watching Calgary vs. Edmonton or Toronto vs. Montreal is always a treat and for four teams to get zero nationally televised games is quite disappointing.
While it makes sense that there would be bias against them, seeing no games for four teams while Edmonton gets 18 is simply not acceptable and is blatant favoritism from Gary Bettman and the broadcasting companies.
