The Winnipeg Jets may be missing Nikolaj Ehlers for a bit but an encouraging update could prove otherwise.

Ehlers' Struggles With Injuries

Nikolaj Ehlers, when healthy, is one of the Winnipeg Jets' best forwards. He can consistently slot in on the top line alongside Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor and become the perfect complimentary playmaking piece.
However, the largest caveat is when he is healthy. Ehlers has not played in a full 82-game season since 2017-18 and that trend may continue this year. Last season alone, he missed just under half the total games playing in 45 of 82 contests.

Jets Provide Update On Ehlers

Jets head coach Rick Bowness provided a critical update on Ehlers and his health status.
«In a perfect world yeah. But we'll see what he feels like in the morning. If it's not 100%, he's going to have to make that call, not us. He knows what he feels, we don't. He knows where he is. We don't want a setback. But I would love for him to show up and say Bones I want to play'. I would love to hear that.» - Rick Bowness

Bowness also dived into what will need to happen for Ehlers to come in and play.
«Again, it's how he feels. He's the only one who knows how he feels. And if he's not 100% then he won't play. But again he knows his body and he knows where the aches are and how he has to feel to play.»

It is encouraging to hear that Ehlers will need to be 100% because it shows that the Jets are taking care of him and want to ensure they are not risking another injury and more and more time missed from Ehlers.
