Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck appear to be on their way out of Winnipeg but a roadblock has come up preventing them from making any moves.
Massive Roadblock
This offseason, the storyline regarding Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele has been closely followed by the hockey community. We have yet to see the Jets make a move, and insiders have offered insight into why.
A month ago, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun wrote the following regarding the two.
«For now, it appears the Jets will head into the season with Hellebuyck unless a deal pops up that makes sense. Ditto on Scheifele.»
The Explanation
Since Billeck pointed out how the Jets are waiting for the perfect trade, it seems like nobody has offered them the right package for their top players.
This is quite risky considering how both have made it clear that they do not want to stay in Winnipeg for the long term and recouping any assets would be a win for the Jets at this point.
The Jets are now entering a risky game where they may be losing their top assets for nothing and any fan knows that that is now the right way to run this business.
