The game will pay tribute to Winnipeg Jets alumnus Bill Riley, who was the third black player in NHL history and the first black player for the Winnipeg Jets. Riley was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 1988, as he was the first black Nova Scotian to play in the NHL.
A collaboration between the Jets and Black Owned, Winnipeg-based premium athletic apparel brand Zueike is set to occur which will release special edition apparel for the celebration. There will also be special cuisine served at the game by Chef Rob Thomas, a local chef with Caribbean roots, who will serve cultural cuisine including dishes from Jamaica, the Caribbean, and eastern Africa.
