This past season the Winnipeg Jets traded for Sean Monahan from the Montreal Canadiens and insider Elliotte Friedman has shared what is happening next for the Jets and Monahan.
Sean Monahan fit like a glove in Winnipeg this past season scoring 13 goals and 24 points in 34 regular season games for the Jets while also maintaining a solid defensive game. His services did not come cheap though as the Jets parted ways with their first-round pick to land Monahan.
Sean Monahan going from Montreal to Winnipeg for a first round pick and a conditional pick
It would be tough to part with a first-round pick for only 34 regular season games of Monahan and a lackluster five-game playoff series. Because of this, the Jets are looking to resign him.
Today on the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman shared the latest on Monahan.
Elliotte on the Jets and Sean Monahan:
«Winnipeg wants to keep him, is trying to keep him, and what are the domino's that could fall if they do keep him.»
Elliotte reported earlier in the year that Winnipeg had tried to acquire Monahan for multiple seasons prior.
Hopefully, the Jets will be able to make something work with Monahan long-term as he has been a great fit in Manitoba.
