The Winnipeg Jets Defenseman Dylan Demelo has a big announcement on the heels of his four-year contract extension.
Demelo has had a big summer this offseason and added to the excitement for his family. Around a month ago he signed a four-year extension with the Jets for $19.6 million. Now, he is the proud father of his second son.
Eddie John Demelo joins the family and is the baby brother to Caleb who was born in 2021.
Demelo, when talking to the Winnipeg Free Press, expressed just how surreal it is when you become a father.
«You try to play it out in your head how it's going to be with the whole birthing process and the first few days being a dad and, I'll just say the real thing doesn't do it justice,» he said «An amazing moment for my wife and I and both of our families and we couldn't be happier right now.»
The birth of his first son Caleb came during the COVID pandemic. That experience was probably more challenging for Dylan and his wife Jessica, then the birth of Eddie this time around.
Demelo earned his contract extension with the Jets coming off a great year with the club. He led the team in blocked shots (139) and shorthanded minutes played per game (2:35).
