Winnipeg Jets forward Cole Perfetti is due a new contract, but negotiations are a concern this off-season given the ups and downs he faced in his challenging 2023-24 season.

With 19 goals and assists for 38 points in 71 games played, that isn't a bad stat line. The majority of Perfetti's season saw him in the bottom six or spending some time in the press box, things are due to take a turn.
Perfetti's agent, Kurt Overhardt, is known for being tough in negotiations and will fight tooth and nail to make sure his client gets what they want. Overhardt has a history of tough negotiations with the Winnipeg Jets, especially with former players Andrew Copp and Jacob Trouba.
It goes without saying that Perfetti excelled in a top-six role, but former head coach Rick Bowness is quick to have benched him or shelter his role.
It's a hard situation for a young player like Perfetti, a former 10th overall draft selection in 2020, to be in.
However, Perfetti will likely stay in Winnipeg as the Jets are actively searching for a new coach.
A bridge contract makes the most sense, and Cole Perfetti will likely earn his top-six role back sooner rather than later.
