It appears Scott Arniel is the frontrunner for the head coaching gig with the Jets. LeBrun, always in the know, said the Jets' were eyeing options like Craig Berube (now with the Toronto Maple Leafs) and Todd McLellan, who had a stint with the Kings before parting ways mid-2023-24 season and is still available on the bench boss market.
Now, Arniel's no stranger to the hockey scene. He's been in the game since the '80s, either playing or coaching. Some even thought he'd lead the Vancouver Canucks at one point. He had a solid run as head coach of the Canucks' AHL affiliate, even taking them to the 2000 Calder Cup finals. His NHL coaching stint with the Columbus Blue Jackets wasn't long, lasting a third of season, but he's been grinding as the Jets' Associate Coach under Bowness' guidance. Hes likely to be hired and pick up where Bowness left off, continuing the culture and precedents set in place by the legendary predecessor.
