The Winnipeg Jets have had a rough start to the off-season thus far, and now it gets worse after three top free agents officially turn them down.

After an incredibly successful regular season in 2023/24, the Winnipeg Jets have struggled ever since, losing in five games to the Colorado Avalanche before heading into a crucial off-season. Now, things seem to be getting worse, with Rutger McGroarty likely requesting a trade and their free agency debacle, leading to three top free agents turning down the Jets in favour of other teams.
Dreger: "Tough day for the Winnipeg Jets, by the way, they tried to extend Sean Monahan, that didn't work, he goes to Columbus, they tried on Henrique...that didn't work, they tried on Lizotte, that didn't work. Chevy's got some lifting to do" (Ray & Dregs Podcast)

With the departure of Rick Bowness as well as several players, this team is going to look quite different as they aim to get back into the playoffs in 2024/25, and with very few top free agents remaining, they need to start making a move. It's unclear whether or not the Jets offered Sean Monahan, Blake Lizzotte and Adam Henrique similar financial deals to the three teams they ended up with, but now can't be time for excuses, as Kevin Cheveldayoff and this organization need to turn things around fast.
