The Winnipeg Jets saw Head Coach Rick Bowness announce his retirement following the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and there's been plenty of speculation as to who will take over. Despite several candidates, the front runner has now officially become the coach, with Darren Dreger confirming the news.
The veteran coach has been with the Washington Capitals for a number of years now, and while the team are yet to make it official, he will be taking over with the Jets after a disappointing playoff finish.
He has not been an NHL Head Coach for over 12 years now, last serving behind the bench with the Blue Jackets in 2012, but with the Jets looking to take the next step in their Stanley Cup chase, he is officially the person that will lead them going forward.
