The Jets are looking to chase a Stanley Cup, and with the team opting to use more veterans down the stretch, it's left teams wondering about Cole Perfetti.
The Winnipeg Jets saw much scrutiny of their lineup down the stretch of the 2023-24 season, with fans seemingly complaining nightly about the way their young names were used. Ultimately, the team would go on to be dominated by the Colorado Avalanche in round one, and now, it's left many wondering about the future of some young stars, namely, Cole Perfetti.
According to a report from the Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, there are many teams around the NHL that are monitoring the trade availability of Perfetti, with his healthy scratches in the playoffs raising eyebrows.
With the expected departure of Tyler Toffoli, there may be a spot opening up for Perfetti in the lineup, but given his production, he should have a role in the top-six regardless of who else is in the lineup. It's unclear if the Jets would ever entertain a trade offer for a rising star, but given their usage of him this past year, anything could happen.
In 71 games this year, Perfetti at 22-years of age had 19 goals and 19 assists, and will be a star of the future, so now the only question becomes whether it will be for Winnipeg or another team.
