Last night the Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets faced off. After a big hit Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj had to step in and stand up for himself.
Xhekaj Teaches Rookie A Lesson
Early in the game Blue Jackets rookie defenseman Dmitri Voronkov laid a big hit on Arber Xhekaj setting the tone for the game. Xhekaj did not like the hit and decided to take action in revenge. The pair would eventually drop the gloves.
That did not take long to make a statement.

The fight ended in a good scrap between the two and a mountain of penalties.
The Aftermath
Once the fight was over penalties were given out. Both players received 5 minutes for fighting. Xhekaj was given an extra minor for roughing. On the other end, Voronkov was given an extra two minutes for boarding.

The Canadiens came out of the game with a 4-3 win and set the tone for the future of this series. They will meet again on November 29th.
