Tonight fireworks have begun once again between Canadian rivals the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators leading to a full line brawl.

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj has once again started a major incident in the NHL preseason with just days to go before opening night. Early on in the Canadiens and Senators game Arber Xhekaj found a dance partner in Zack MacEwen to fight. The two traded some major punches in a good fight that can be seen down below.
This fight was looking to be a potential one-off incident between two players clawing to make their respective rosters. However, after the fight the overall intensity between the two teams continued to rise. Eventually, a few minutes after the initial fight the two teams decided a full-on brawl was needed.

Kaiden Guhle sparks a brawl between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators

As the two teams continued the game a puck ended up in the neutral zone along the benches. Montreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle saw an opportunity to set a tone and laid a big hit on a Senators player into the benches. Immediately players from both teams came rushing in and fights took place between every player on the ice with players being shoved into the benches during the scrum that can be seen down below.
Penalties were handed out between the two teams and the game would continue on. Now the question becomes whether or not any player from this brawl ends up with further punishment. There likely isn't anything worth a suspension but fines could be coming to some players.
Regardless this now sets a tone for the season between two Atlantic Division rivals fighting for a potential Stanley Cup Playoffs spot. Despite both missing the playoffs in 2023-24 the Canadiens and Senators are right in the mix for a potential appearance this season and their rivalry could be the difference between a playoff berth and another failed season.
As the situation continues to develop and more information is known on the fate of the players involved in the brawl we will pass it along to you.
