Reports confirm that Alex Galchenyuk is on the verge of signing with SKA St. Petersburg, a significant team in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). This move comes after SKA adjusts their finances to accommodate Galchenyuk's contract under their salary cap.
He was signed by the Arizona Coyotes earlier this offseason but Galchenyuk's contract was terminated due to legal troubles. Since then, there has been limited interest from other teams for his services. Notably, Galchenyuk was selected as the 3rd overall pick in the 2012 NHL draft.
Once he joins SKA St. Petersburg, Galchenyuk will join forces with other NHL prospects and former players who are part of the SKA team. His addition is expected to play a key role in SKA's quest for a KHL championship.
