Leading up to the 2021 NHL Draft, prospect Logan Mailloux carried a lot of controversy. So much so that he wanted to relinquish his ability to be drafted. Unfortunately, ex Montreal GM Marc Bergevin chose to ignore that and drafted him 31st overall.
Since being drafted Mailloux has takes steps to grow as an individual.
Top Montreal Defence Prospect
Mailloux was one of the top players for the London Knights in 2022-23. He finished tied for fourth in team scoring with 53 points in 59 games, and first in scoring for defence. Mailloux scored 25 goals in those games as well, often shown on CHL highlight packages.
During the OHL playoffs, Mailloux scored 24 points in 21 games as he was not afraid of the tougher action, and improved his scoring.
He has established himself as a top prospect for the Montreal Canadiens and been developing extremely well. He has even been a stand out so far during training camp and exhibition play too.
Confident to Make the Team
Jean-Charles Lajoie, a TVA Sports journalist, thinks Mailloux can make the team on opening night
Logan Mailloux is just as impressive in this camp as Kaiden Guhle was a year ago. No more, no less. Same physical maturity to boot. Why do we want to see him two years in Laval, when last year, we all wanted to see Guhle here with the CH? Mailloux well before Barron!
At 20 years old, the other alternative for Mailloux if he does not make the Montreal Canadiens is to go to Laval and play with the Laval Rocket, as suggested by Elite Prospects. He will be among the top young players in the AHL.
