A recent report regarding a potential major shakeup at Hockey Night in Canada seem to be premature. At least as far as it goes for two of the program's major names.
The report, written by Harold Berger, stated a major shakeup was coming to HNIC, and that no one was safe other than Elliotte Friedman, resident Sportsnet Insider.
Berger emphasized that longtime member of HNIC, Ron MacLean, was essentially on his way out the door after close to 40 years. MacLean put those rumours to rest at a recent golf tournament, saying he's already confirmed for at least one more year.
Following that revelation, Kevin Bieksa made one of his own, saying if MacLean is back, then he's back, too. His Tweet included a photo of several members of the HNIC crew, including MacLean.
"If @Ron_MacLean is coming back then so am I! " - Kevin Bieksa
In all honesty, when I first heard that MacLean might be out the door, I wasn't that surprised. Like him or not, it feels like he's run his course as a host for Hockey Night in Canada. At the same time, it was a bit of a shock to hear that Bieksa might be out the door.
Personally, I think he and Jennifer Botterill are the best two members of the panel.
