A recent report has unveiled an important development regarding a possible comeback in the NHL as a coach for hockey legend Patrick Roy
Patrick Roy Declined Two Job Offers in the NHL
A source with close ties to Roy mentionned that the former goaltender is presently enjoying a well-deserved break in Florida after a Memorial Cup victory with the Quebec Remparts in 2023.
The same person revealed that during two NHL teams sent offers to Roy during the summer, which he turned down.
He explained that it was in part due to the fact that the offers were from Western Conference organizations.
"Traveling in the West is much more difficult than in the East, he also explained. In Denver, there was jet lag very, very often. Over time, for travel, he had already told me that and I think that's one of the reasons why it interests him less. As you get older, these little details become important in your eyes, in your decisions, I believe."
Roy, now at 57 years old, surely takes these details into consideration when evaluating an opportunity.
Even if coaching changes are frequent in the NHL, there is no shortage of qualified candidates. Roy's return to the NHL remains uncertain, but one can only hope to see it happening eventually. However, he doesn't seem that eager to get back behind a bench.
