Paul Bissonnette has just made a surprising prediction on who he thinks will be the player to break Wayne Gretzky's goal record.

Biz Thinks Auston Matthews Will Break Wayne Gretzky's Goal Record

Many thought that Wayne Gretzky's goal record would stand for the test of time, as no one has been able to score at the incredible rate of the great one. However, players are playing a lot longer now, and Alex Ovechkin is on the brink of breaking the record.
However, Paul Bissonnette has another player in mind for who will hold the goal-scoring title eventually. That player is Auston Matthews.
"I think that there's a high chance that Matthews ends of being the highest goal-scorer of all time. He's a freak in the gym, and the way that the game has evolved, it kind of protects these kinds of players. He doesn't play nearly as physical as Ovechkin did. So as far as his body holding up - people do say he was injured a lot more than Ovi was. Especially early on. But, buddy I think there's a high probability that Matthews ends up breaking the overall goal record."

Matthews on Incredible Goal Scoring Rate This Season

Matthews is an incredibly prolific goal scorer, scoring at a higher rate than Ovechkin per game. He is on pace for a mind-blowing 72 goals this year, which would be the NHL's highest since Alexander Mogilny in 1992-93.
If Matthews can remain healthy, he may be able to take the record from Ovechkin, assuming he plays until he can beat Gretzky.
