The big question after Corey Perry was ruled eligible to play in the NHL again this season was which team would be willing to take a shot on the controversial veteran after the blowup in Chicago. While Perry has been able to lay low since his termination, it was still a big risk to sign him after the wide speculation and rumors about his termination.
Despite this, Teams were instantly linked to Perry in contract talks. Now, a new rumour has surfaced that the Perry negotiations have been narrowed down to three teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Edmonton Oilers, and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
While this is still just a rumour, Perry has been previously linked to the Leafs by former Leaf and media member Carlo Colaiacovo. He was also linked to the Oilers by Elliotte Friedman, who has stated that it could work in Toronto as well. Now, it appears Tampa, Perry's old team, has entered the race. \
Perry returning to Tampa Bay would be an interesting move. Perry was with the club when they lost in the Stanley Cup Finals. Though Tampa's era of dominance is seemingly coming to a close, bringing Perry back could energize the team and help them push back to the Cup finals.
